How does collecting Visiting Moths help me?
If you are a fairly new player or if you have missed out some of the previous events, you can pay Visiting Moths to lay eggs to complete past event sets for decoration rewards. These special decos earned from events have abilities, some of which are useful and may help you with future gameplay.
Each event set has 3 decoration rewards. If you collect at least 1 of each moth in the set, you get the 1st deco. If you perfect all the moths in the set by fusing 5 copies of each moth and feeding them with pollen to Level 5, you earn the 2nd deco. However, the 3rd and final deco is exclusive to players who perfected the moths during the event duration itself. It is not sure if Runaway will re-release them in future.
But the cost to lay an egg is so egg-pensive!
Yea they can get pricey. The cost is determined by the rarity of the moth:
Legendary - 500 Glowbucks
Epic - 350 Glowbucks
Rare - 200 Glowbucks
Uncommon - 100 Glowbucks
Common - 50 Glowbucks
If you have an Egg Layer deco (lays a free egg very 7 days), you can buy 1 copy of each visiting moth and use the deco to perfect your moths over time. (You cannot use the Egg Layer ability on the Visiting Moth itself, it would be nice if it actually works but sorry nope. :P)

Weekend Bonus Events - Half Price Egg-Laying
The good news is, Half Price Egg Laying applies to Visiting Moths! This means the Legendary moth that you are eyeing will be 250 Glowbucks instead of 500 during the event! Look out for such Weekend Bonus events on your game calendar!
How often will I get a Visiting Moth?
They will only visit you when you are in your game, so do not worry about missing a Visiting Moth if you are offline. When they do visit you, you get a notification and they will hang around for an hour.
I've heard that if you buy an egg from a Visiting Moth, you will get another visitor the next day.
UPDATE: Due to changes in the game, Visiting Moths should now grace your forest every 24 hours, regardless of their egg purchases.
The Visiting Moth that you will get is totally random, and usually you should get a moth that you have not discovered yet.

Which event sets should I go for?
If you have limited Glowbucks, it is understandable that you may be picky in choosing which moths to buy. If you want something useful which helps you with future Wisp events, go for moths in the Boom set. If you want a Gift Resetter to speed up your progress in the Apoyo core set, perfect the Hanwi set. It's up to you really, you can also simply pick the prettiest looking deco for your forest~!

I have never gotten a visiting moth before, ever. Do I need to do something special to get them to come or am I just stuck?
ReplyDeleteHi Sunflight, I got my first visiting moth when I reached a Flutterpedia score of 1200, maybe that is the prerequisite for their first visit.
